Stacey tagged me so I thought I would play along!
Here are the rules: 1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers. 2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name). 3. After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers. 4. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details.)

Holidays
I love holidays! I know many people get aggravated by them for lots of different reasons - they are to commercialized or hectic or stressful or we may lose site of the "real" reason for the holiday. I love holidays because they give us a reason to celebrate and isn't that always good?
So what if Hallmark and florists make a fortune at Valentine's day? Do I need candy and flowers? Certainly not but is it so bad to have a day set aside to celebrate the loved ones in your life? Can I do that everyday? Sure! But why not have one more :) Another example I have heard -some families lose site of the real reason for the holidays- Easter is all about the bunny and chocolate and Christmas about Santa and presents. But even these families spend extra time with each other making memories because of the holiday - whether it is coloring eggs together or picking out a Christmas tree- the key is that they are together spending time.
So as much work as some holidays are - the joy I get back from them is worth every minute of it! I love holidays - big or small - for the simple reason that they make us sit up and notice. Because of holidays and celebrations our days do not just mix one into the other. So I say forget about the bad stuff that comes along with holidays and just enjoy the blessings that come along with them. :)

My first 1/2 hour...
Challenge #2 - Focus on JUST the first half hour of your waking day. Include details such as what time you wake up and what your mood is generally. Are you usually well rested? Do you use an alarm clock to wake? If so, is it set to music or buzzing? Use lots of descriptive words!
Here goes :)
My alarm goes off at 6:24 am with a very loud beeping noise that jars me out of a perfectly wonderful slumber. I lay there until 6:32 am in a stunned stupor of misery wishing I could roll over and go back to sleep. I finally throw my legs over the side of the bed and with eyes closed put on my sweats and socks (which I keep folded on the floor next to my bed) and drag myself out the the bed. Our room is dark and cold and I again think of my misery. I stumble into our bathroom and go and it is even colder in there - more misery. I then walk down the hall to my oldest sons room to wake him up to join in my misery. He is not a morning person either so we barely talk except to say that we hate mornings and we wish we could crawl back under the covers. We then go downstairs together and turn on the smallest of lights in the kitchen (our poor sleep deprived eyes can't take anything bright.) I make him some breakfast and he eats in silence while I make his lunch and make sure his backpack is all ready until 7:05 am when he heads back upstairs to finish getting ready to go at 7:15 am
There you have it - my first 1/2 hour. I always feel tired when I wake up - no matter what time it is. I wouldn't say I am grumpy, I just would rather be sleeping. Once that first 1/2 hour is over with - things start to change and I finally wake up. I don't drink coffee at all and I wait to eat breakfast until all the kids are at school. As soon as my oldest leaves it is time to get the other two going...

Artwork
blog challenge: Look at the wall hangings on your walls. (family portraits excluded) Post a photo of your favorite one and write about it on your blog. Where did you get it? Why do you love it?
We have a lot of artwork on our walls - we try to buy special pieces when we travel so it was very hard for me to pick a favorite - in fact I still couldn't but this piece spoke to me today. I love the texture of the painting and the fact that it is painted with dark colors but still shows light. I saw this at a speciality store in Omaha and commented to Don that I like it and thought it would go well above our lawyer's bookcase. About a month later, I received the painting as one of my birthday gifts. :)
