Grocery Shopping
With a family of five and the fact that I cook a lot - I spend lots of time and money at the grocery store. Let me just say, I had the best grocery store in Omaha. Our Hy-Vee was brand new, huge and clean. It had a post office, pharmacy, dry cleaners, Starbucks, restaurant, gas station, a big meat/seafood counter, organic/health food section and fantastic assortment of every kind of food. So it has been a bit of a shock to find that to grocery stores near my home here in Richmond are rather small (even though the population is much larger), dirty, and have a poor selection. I am still trying to find a good one but the two I have tried have gotten a thumbs down from me!
On a bright note - I have a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods within minutes of my house and I love those stores. I can not do my regular weekly grocery shopping there due to cost and selection but I do enjoy getting special little touches for my cooking at both of these stores.

That's a bummer Jayne - I know the feeling, we had an awesome store when we lived by O'Hare and when we moved to where we are now I was really disappointed. I only buy the bare necessities in the store here, and I drive 30 minutes when I want to do a big shop.
Have you tried Peapod grocery delivery service? I use them alot and its well worth the money.
I am so jealous you have a Trader Joes!!! I used to do most of my shopping there in CA! I found they had good prices on most things except meat and a a few other things. I miss that store!!!
I LOVE Trader Joes - how fun. Hopee you find a great grocery store. You can come back and shop anytime you want - you can stay with me. :) Hope you are all enjoying your new home - can't wait to see that scraproom.
I love TJ's! Until about six months ago, the nearest Kroger to us was absolutely pathetic. They have since built a new store, though, so maybe they'll do the same in your area!
